"I entered my park as 'Central Park, New York.' I have been hammering the streets of New York for a good many years. It is a dozen years, at least, since I have cast my fly in any water inhabited by anything of a finny character...I have not qualified for the Rocky Mountains. But I know I shall qualify, because the qualifications for the mountains, as I well know, lies inside of one, lies in the soul, and not in one's accomplishments. So it is that I, treader of dusty city streets, boldly claim common kinship with you of the plains, the mountains, and the glaciers,"

- quote from Robert Sterling Yard, a pioneer in the wilderness conservation movement

Someday - M People

The world is cold and times are bad.
Everytime I think about it, it makes me sad.
War and drugs are everywhere
and it's getting so hard to breathe the air.
But it doesn't have to be like this,
all the rancour and bitterness.
If we can just open our eyes
we can make this world a paradise.

Someday.
We'll live as one family in perfect harmony.
Someday.
If we all pull together we will all be free.

Someday (someday!)

Free from the pressure and the prejudice
(FREE FROM OPRESSION AND PREJUDUICE )
we can change it all with tenderness.
There'll be no void between black and white.
We'll be able to walk the streets at night.
I won't be fooled while someone dies of starvation,
the whole world will be my nation.
We will walk hand in hand.
I'll go to South Africa and be called woman.

Someday.
We'll live as one family in sweet harmony.
Someday.
If we all pull together we will all be free.

Mmmm, someday.
We'll all be free - mmmm, you and me.
Someday (someday!)
We will all be free, (someday) free, FREE!

Someday!
I wanna be
Someday!
Free!
Someday!
Free!
Someday!
Someday! (someday)
Someday!

Someday we'll all be free
Hmm,someday
we'll all be free...
Hey I wanna be free, free, FREE!

There'll be no ghettos, no addiction.
All today's troubles will seem like fiction.
We will walk hand-in-hand.
I'll go to South Africa and be called woman.

Someday (someday!)
Hey , I wanna be
Someday (someday!)
Free!
Someday...

i love t-shirts.

generally i prefer plain t-shirts.

i love white t-shirts but only in the summer can i succesfully get away with them. maybe this weekend i can wear one but soon it will be put away.

i wear t-shirts, colored of course, throughout the year. black is great as is blue.

i don't care for t-shirts with slogans or "funny" things written on them. i despise team t-shirts. all t-shirts should be fitted appropriately to the individual's body shape and frame - nothing is worse than seeing a huge t-shirt on anyone other than a teenage girl who is getting ready for bed or baby t on anyone.

i do have three t-shirts with prints on them. one from a restaurant in provincetown because i love the graphic, one from a graphic artist blog friend from italy that i adore and my latest a t-shirt simply saying

rrrr
aaa
ff
a!

i just love t-shirts.

"Everybody has a purpose in life, even if it's just to serve as a really bad example."

i wrote this down some time ago because it just seemed like something i should write down.

i sometimes wonder if i am the really bad example? is that my purpose??

well - i know, i know - i am on a negative arc right now. i've decided that tomorrow i write positively - tomorrow when i again have this opportunity to say something to the world i will use it to put out what i want back - what i want for myself...

i feel exactly like my sad little basil plant.

between the disgusting resurgence of summer (i do love the season when it is the season but i prefer not to have my precious time with autumn shortened by extended warm weather), the flu and a general malaise...i am wiped. dried up.

sad!

i thought the trip would provide some sort of "artistic" rebound - a kick in the creative pants but does not seem to be right now. i feel at the end rather than the beginning...

grappling with raging fever, complete and utter physical exhaustion and aches and pains including back and headaches. i haven't spent a full day in bed whilst sick in a long time but yesterday, when this should have been published, was one such spent.

today i am minus the fever and strength is building again. i had yesterday off and i took today as a sick day because i knew i couldn't make it in feeling this way.

in looking for inspiration amongst the many photographers i admire i came across this statement from Edward Weston, and thought i would share:

“Now, to consult the rules of composition before making a picture is a little like consulting the law of gravity before going for a walk.”

how wonderful to find your voice.

how wonderful to live your life absent of apology for who you are.

how wonderful to treat yourself with respect and demand the same of others.

how wonderful to find it is all within.

a slow process but - i am learning what is really important. i'm learning what matters to me. i get flashes and peeks of where i really belong.

more and more i am seeing my life as an adventure where i have been luckier than most even if i didn't experience them the way i thought i should or thought i would.

more and more i see those adventures continuing and opening up the world wider to me even as i keenly understand the profound wisdom in dorothy gale's quest to go home. a wisdom i never understood until i left "home".

i will never go back. not to who i was. no, this adventure, these adventures have carried me high and changed me and in doing so has changed others.

when i make it to where i belong it will be because of these adventures and with these adventures close by my side and rooted deeply in my soul.

i just remembered this toy, called 2-XL, i loved when i was a kid.

i was desperate to get that toy for christmas and i adored it. somewhere i have a polaroid pic of me with him the morning i got it.

as an only child i recall having long, heartfelt conversations with him all the time. he was a friend to me in every sense.

i wonder what happened to it? is it sitting in some vintage toy collection or second hand store? in a basement somewhere? just destroyed? i wonder?

a part of my childhood so dear and so important at the time. i wonder.

and now i have different things that catch my interest and different things i hold dear.

just interesting how life goes.

Voulez-Vous - ABBA

People everywhere
A sense of expectation hanging in the air
Giving out a spark
Across the room your eyes are glowing in the dark
And here we go again, we know the start, we know the end
Masters of the scene
We've done it all before and now we're back to get some more
You know what I mean

Voulez-vous (ah-ha)
Take it now or leave it (ah-ha)
Now is all we get (ah-ha)
Nothing promised, no regrets
Voulez-vous (ah-ha)
Ain't no big decision (ah-ha)
You know what to do (ah-ha)
La question c'est voulez-vous
Voulez-vous...

I know what you think
"The girl means business so I'll offer her a drink"
Feeling mighty proud
I see you leave your table, pushing through the crowd
I'm really glad you came, you know the rules, you know the game
Master of the scene
We've done it all before and now we're back to get some more
You know what I mean

Voulez-vous (ah-ha)
Take it now or leave it (ah-ha)
Now is all we get (ah-ha)
Nothing promised, no regrets
Voulez-vous (ah-ha)
Ain't no big decision (ah-ha)
You know what to do (ah-ha)
La question c'est voulez-vous

And here we go again, we know the start, we know the end
Masters of the scene
We've done it all before and now we're back to get some more
You know what I mean

Voulez-vous (ah-ha)
Take it now or leave it (ah-ha)
Now is all we get (ah-ha)
Nothing promised, no regrets
Voulez-vous (ah-ha)
Ain't no big decision (ah-ha)
You know what to do (ah-ha)
La question c'est voulez-vous
Voulez-vous...

Voulez-vous (ah-ha)
Take it now or leave it (ah-ha)
Now is all we get (ah-ha)
Nothing promised, no regrets
Voulez-vous (ah-ha)
Ain't no big decision (ah-ha)
You know what to do (ah-ha)
I can still say voulez-vous

Voulez-vous (ah-ha, ah-ha, ah-ha)
Voulez-vous (ah-ha, ah-ha, ah-ha)
Voulez-vous (ah-ha, ah-ha, ah-ha)
Voulez-vous (ah-ha, ah-ha, ah-ha)

Voulez-vous (ah-ha)
Take it now or leave it (ah-ha)
Now is all we get (ah-ha)
Nothing promised, no regrets
Voulez-vous (ah-ha)
Ain't no big decision (ah-ha)

not sure what though...suppose that is something that needs to incubate...
