i went running this afternoon. first time since kiawah had to leave.
maybe it was my imagination, maybe it was something else but...on my way back over the brooklyn bridge i looked down and...i could see her running along side me. the way she looked when she was healthy.
she loved to run.
anyway i saw her clearly running, hind legs kicking, tongue flapping to the side as she ran. i forgot that her tongue did that and it made me smile. she ran ahead and then slowed down - in a little game of catch me if you can that she loved. one of the reasons that she couldn't be off her lead unless in a secure area. but today she was off the lead and running with me.
then after we got to carroll and clinton she was gone...
i like to think that the next time i go for my run she will be back by my side.

i'm so glad Kiawah ran with you Friday!
Have you met any of her doppelgangers on the street yet? When Trotsky died, everytime i saw a dog like him for a while they WERE him and i would cry...
Yes, Sam! A few times! And absolutely catches me off guard and the tears begin...
